An automatic drain valve empties the reservoir by itself: it opens as the line pressure falls below roughly 0.2 to 0.5 bar and blows the collected condensate out, then reseals as the compressor charges the system again. Nothing has to be done by the driver, which is why it is fitted where the reservoir is hard to reach. Port thread M22 x 1.5.
